Josh Collins

Josh Collins, military veteran finds healing and peace in paddle boarding

Josh Collins, Special Ops Veteran and SUP World-Record Holder

Since learning to paddle board four years ago, Josh has completed seven extreme distance paddles from 300 to 2700 miles in length to include four, 300-500 milers in Florida, a 300-miler in North Carolina, 461 Miles of the Race to Alaska and Operation Phoenix – a ~3500 mile paddle from Corpus Christie, TX to the Statue of Liberty in NYC (supported by his wife Tonia).

With 20 years of Army service, Josh retired from the US Army Special Operations Command, after multiple combat rotations to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Bosnia. During service he experienced seven Traumatic Brain Injuries. At the VA, he first stepped on a SUP during a Rec Therapy event, and the horizon stood still for Josh for the first time in as long as he could remember. Finding this physical balance and calm, he set out on a stand up paddleboard journey to help other veterans also find healing and peace.

Josh supports Black Dagger, an amazing non-profit organization based in Tampa that exists to connect Veterans and help them reintegrate into life after military service.
